STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT 2 OPEN BETA HOW TO
Activision knows how to keep this craze alive and kicking after all of these years with great levels and lots of value for the price. “Call of Duty: Black Ops: III” is another solid release in the popular franchise. Having said that, I do not think either game is a poor choice.

Verdict: “Star Wars: Battlefront” comes up second. Over time, I found myself going back to “Black Ops III” over and over for “just one more game.” I find myself a little less casual nowadays and the intense firefights in “Call of Duty” feed my adrenaline. The days of playing “Battlefront” on my PlayStation 2 was a blast. The ability to see "Star Wars" on my big screen was exciting and nostalgic. I will be curious to see if the new Star Wars movie released this week will give this game a bump in sales.įun factor: I found “Battlefront” to be more fun at first. I have a feeling the lack of an “M” rating for "Battlefront" might give it a longer tail, sales-wise. Sales: The results from the NPD group in November clearly put “Call of Duty” ahead of “Star Wars: Battlefront.” This might seem a trivial note to make, but if a game does not have a strong online following, it might prove fatal for the game late into 2016. In other words, competition seems harder than ever in “Black Ops III.” Hardcore “Call of Duty” players will happily mop the floor with the newer gamers, so if you are looking for something more casual, stick to “Battlefront.” It is truly a missed opportunity.Īccessibility: "Star Wars" players have an easier time jumping into battle versus “Call of Duty” multiplayer matches. "Battlefront" hurts in this category due to the lack of a story mode. With a solid single-player campaign and a plethora of online options, this “Call of Duty” game does not disappoint. However, “Black Ops III” feels a lot more deep straight out of the box. Value: Both games have a good amount of content from the get-go, with downloadable content on the way. Playing as a Star Wars character? That never gets old. It also helps we have not had a “Battlefront” game in years. Playing as a super-soldier in a military shooter has been done by so many games, it feels old. Theme: "Star Wars" handily wins this category. On the scale and scope of graphics and sound, it is also a tie.

First-person shooting in “Call of Duty” is smooth as ever. The third-person action in "Star Wars" is fluid and dynamic, no matter how hectic things get. Gameplay: “Battlefront” and “Black Ops” are nearly equal in this category. Two of the biggest shooters this year squared off in November to see who would reign supreme: “Call of Duty: Black Ops III" versus “Star Wars: Battlefront.” These multiplayer shooters both received a lot of hype from an open-beta that ran this summer. Although fans may be solidly in their own camps about which game is better, it is easy for me to declare a victor.
